Wood County is adopting a program piloted in Lucas County last year that is meant to funnel opiate addicts from jail to treatment, and providing medication to stop them from overdosing.
The program, which is set to begin “any day now,” said Perrysburg Municipal Court chief bailiff and probation officer Scott Howard, enrolls people leaving the Wood County jail into treatment and gives them a shot of Vivitrol to bridge the gap until they meet with counselors.
