Sam Quinones, author of “Dreamland: The True Tale of America's Opiate Epidemic,” will speak Oct. 3 at the Toledo Lucas County Public Library about his reporting on the addiction crisis.
“Dreamland” is a collection of stories about those affected by opiate addiction, the pharmaceutical industry’s effort to produce and market an opioid painkiller free of addictive properties, and a heroin trafficking operation from Mexico that fanned across the country using tactics likened to delivering pizzas.
He will discuss his work at 7 p.m. in the McMaster Center in Main Library at the first of two opioid awareness-related events hosted by the library in partnership with the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County.
